States Reject First Opioid Settlement Offer: A group of 21 states rejected an offer from three major pharmaceutical companies to settle the litigation for $18 billion. The states are asking the companies to contribute between $22 billion and $32 billion. (Wall Street Journal)

“ALI’s Proposed Restatement of Copyrights has the Potential to Harm the Creative Industries”: Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Reps. Harley Rouda (D-Calif.) and Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) penned an op-ed in The Hill saying the American Law Institute’s copyright Restatement “has the potential to irreparably harm the creative industries and the millions of Americans who depend on copyright protections to make a living.” (The Hill)

Financial Times Columnist Says Burford Overstating Claims: A Financial Times columnist says Burford is overstating the value of an Argentinian claim currently in U.S. courts because the final award would have to be exchanged into another currency that was recently nationalized by the Argentinian government and lost 93 percent of its value.
