In addition to passing a fast-tracked bill to eliminate the 10-year statute of limitations in filing asbestos suits, Illinois lawmakers last week also “out of the blue” passed a bill to reduce the size of juries in civil cases from twelve to six. The Belleville News-Democrat editorializes that legislators should have waited “to debate these changes in the new legislative session when newly elected lawmakers, not lame ducks, can decide.” (Belleville News-Democrat)
