The Wall Street Journal editorial board writes that the plaintiffs’ bar got a 9-0 “thumping” at the U.S. Supreme Court, reversing the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision in Integrity Staffing Solutions v. Busk. In that case, employees had filed a class action against a company that ships for Amazon.com, “claiming workers were entitled to back pay for time waiting to go through a metal detector to and from work”. Citigroup Inc. announced that it will spend $2.7 billion to “bolster its legal reserves” in the wake of the recent foreign-exchange settlements with U.S. and U.K. regulators, expected settlements with the Federal Reserve and Justice Department, and additional investigations by federal regulators.
