Brazil High Court Rejects Attempt to Enforce Fraudulent Chevron Judgment: Brazil’s Superior Court of Justice unanimously rejected an attempt to enforce the controversial Ecuadorian judgment against Chevron. An Ecuadorian court ordered Chevron to pay $18 billion to plaintiffs in 2011. That judgment has not been enforced after it was found to be “obtained by corrupt means” by a U.S. court in 2014. Federal judge wipes out nearly all cases in Eliquis MDL: A New York federal judge dismissed 54 cases that accused Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pfizer of failing to warn patients about the side effects of the blood thinner, Eliquis. The judge called the plaintiffs’ argument “unavailing.” (Reuters)

Florida Supreme Court denies recusal of Justice Pariente, no explanation offered: The Florida Supreme Court denied Gov. Rick Scott’s motion to disqualify Justice Barbara Pariente in a case that will decide if Scott or his successor can appoint new justices. After the case’s oral arguments, Pariente and Chief Justice Jorge Labarga were caught on a hot mic discussing the state’s Judicial Nominating Committee, which Labarga said “will listen” to him.
