SC Law Firm Averages 185 Defendants per Asbestos Suit: North Charleston, SC-based Deaton law firm was second among a list of firms for the average number of defendants in an asbestos suit, according to a report by KCIC and Bates White. The firm filed an average of 185 defendants for each asbestos suit filed, and was second only to West Virginia-based Segal Law Firm, which averaged 283. “There are good firms out there, good asbestos attorneys … But we don’t want people to take advantage of the system,” said Earl Hunter, executive director of the South Carolina Civil Justice Association.
