  • DoJ Seeking Settlement with Volkswagen: Volkswagen last month agreed to a $15 billion civil settlement with regulators over emissions-testing allegations, but the Department of Justice now claims it has found “evidence of criminal wrongdoing” and is negotiating a separate settlement with the automaker “that could result in significant financial penalties.” (Wall Street Journal)

 

  • DoJ Ordered to Pay More Than $640,000 in Legal Fees: In the latest fallout from the failed prosecution of the late Alaska senator Ted Stevens, the U.S. Department of Justice was ordered to pay more than $640,000 in legal fees to two federal prosecutors who successfully challenged the department’s decision to suspend them for their conduct in the Stevens case.
