Litigation Funder, Short Seller, Race To Regulator To Urge Probes: Burford Capital, a litigation funder, and Muddy Waters, a short seller who accused Burford of misleading its investors, are racing to the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to urge the regulator investigate one another. Burford is accusing Muddy Waters of illegal stock manipulation, while Muddy Waters has asked the FCA to investigate Buford’s accounting practices. (Law360 and Evening Standard)
