In the News Today – August 13, 2015

Of 279 asbestos cases set for trial in Madison County this past Monday, 272 were filed by plaintiffs from out-of-town. The other 97.5% of plaintiffs have only ever seen a Madison County court docket, where some have taken up residence since 2011. It should be noted that all 279 cases settled. (ILR Blog Post)

Karen Hockstad, partner at Dinsmore and Shohl LLP writes in the National Law Review that, “Healthcare companies are particularly vulnerable to lawsuits under the TCPA due to the large amount of necessary communications with patients combined with new, more stringent rules about contacting patients on their residential and mobile phones.” (National Law Review)
