Manhattan prosecutors ratcheted up their corruption charges against former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver in a new filing on Thursday, saying he accepted money from law firms by way of an intermediary investment account for which he performed no legal work. (Law360)

The Illinois Civil Justice League released a study showing the state’s economic growth is being hampered by the volume of lawsuit filings in Cook, Madison, and St. Clair counties in particular. (Belleville News-Democrat)
