- Prosecutors Ask for Additional Jail Time for Sheldon Silver: Prosecutors asked a federal judge to sentence convicted former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver to more prison time than the 10 years suggested by the Probation Department. Silver was convicted over charges he steered state grant money to a doctor whose asbestos research center then referred patients to a law firm, resulting in millions in fees for Silver. - U.S. Court Rules Committee Puts Off Decision on TPLF Disclosure: The U.S. Advisory Committee on Civil Rules last week had “an open discussion” on Third Party Litigation Financing, but made “no decision on how or when to move forward with possible procedural rules on the topic,” including whether to require disclosure of TPLF.
