On Tuesday, a Louisiana House committee approved a bill that would remove the monetary threshold for a jury trial. Proponents of the bill say the current threshold, the highest in the country, is hurting the state’s business climate. “All that horsepower, we’ve got it sitting on cinderblocks in the front yard,” said Stephen Waguespack, referring to the capacity of the state’s court. “We need to get it on the road.” New Orleans Times-Picayune
