“Illinois is a litigation haven that beckons to trial lawyers across the nation, and it’s hurting your state’s reputation,” said ILR President Lisa A. Rickard, as quoted in a syndicated Illinois News Network story that ran in publications throughout Illinois over the weekend.
On Friday, we updated you about the wide national coverage garnered by ILR’s release of the 2015 Lawsuit Climate: Ranking the States survey. The coverage continued over the weekend.
The Chicago Tribune published a second story on the survey release, writing that, “Three-fourths of survey respondents said a state’s litigation environment influences business decisions at their companies, including where to locate or do business.”
The Advocate (New Orleans) ran this joint op-ed by Lisa Rickard and Louisiana Association of Business & Industry President Stephen Waguespack.
Since Friday morning’s news update, Reuters also published a follow-up story, writing, “When asked the worst cities and local jurisdictions for corporations to litigate, 26 percent chose east Texas, a hotbed of patent lawsuits, while 20 percent selected Chicago and 16 percent said Madison County, Illinois, home to some of the biggest asbestos dockets in the U.S.”
We will continue to update on the successful and wide reach of this year’s lawsuit climate survey.
