ILR Letter to the Editor: Missouri Lays Out the Welcome Mat to Nation’s Trial Lawyers
In a St. Louis Post-Dispatch letter to the editor, ILR’s Executive Vice President Harold Kim calls out Missouri for its “weak rules on what cases are eligible to stay in its courts, and terrible standards of evidence that can be presented to juries,” which has effectively laid out the welcome mat to the nation’s trial lawyers.
Kim argues that legal reform will have many positive impacts on Missouri’s legal system, including stronger evidence standards, transparency to asbestos litigation and to attorney general’s hiring of private plaintiffs’ lawyers, reforms to insurance bad faith lawsuits, and more accurate assessments of medical damages claims.
