Illinois Editorial Calls for Legal Reform in Wake of 2015 Lawsuit Climate Survey Results
The Bloomington (IL) Pantagraph and Decatur (IL) Herald & Review editorialize on Illinois’ poor ranking in ILR’s 2015 Lawsuit Climate Survey.
“According to a survey conducted for the Chamber’s Institute for Legal Reform by Harris Poll, the Chamber said only Louisiana and West Virginia have worse lawsuit climates,” notes the editorials, which also highlight Gov. Bruce Rauner’s support for legal reform.
“You come here, you open yourself up to attack and excessive judgment against your company,” the governor said.
“As a nation, we head to court way too often,” concludes the editorials. “Illinois does need some sort of legal reform since it appears to be out of sync with the rest of the nation and surrounding states.”
