Illinois News Networks syndicated columnist Scott Reeder writes of Illinois’ abusive legal climate.
“In 2015, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Legal Reform ranked Illinois 48th of the 50 states for legal fairness,” writes Reeder. “A ranking like that from the nation’s top business group would give any firm pause when considering whether to expand in or relocate to Illinois.”
Reeder notes the legal reforms proposed by Governor Bruce Rauner, which include, “setting geographic limits on where lawsuits can be filed, to keep attorneys from shopping for venues.”
“In a state that struggles to attract jobs and businesses, reforming Illinois’ legal system would be a good step toward turning Land of Lincoln around.”
