House passes coronavirus bill with limited liability protection for medical mask makers.

Over the weekend the House of Representatives passed a coronavirus relief bill, but failed to extend liability protection to all types of respirator masks according to a report in Legal Newsline.

Extending protection against lawsuits would help ensure there is an adequate supply of masks to protect health care workers and patients nationwide. The language in the bill passed by the House expands liability protections on N95 respirator masks, but does not protect masks certified by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health against possible lawsuits.

The Senate is set to vote on the legislation later this week.
