Garlock’s RICO Suits Unsealed, Allege Fraud by Plaintiffs’ Firms

Reuters reports that Garlock Sealing Technologies’s racketeering suits against four plaintiffs’ firms for allegedly “concealing evidence” and inducing “clients to commit perjury to drive up asbestos-related settlements and garner bigger fees” were unsealed this week.

The complaints alleged that the firms sued Garlock while “hiding evidence that their clients were exposed to asbestos products made by other companies.”

The suits, which became publicly available yesterday, were originally filed in early 2014 and ordered unsealed last summer.
