Forbes’ “Best States for Business” Looks at State Legal Climates

Forbes’ “Best States for Business” report ranked the states on a number of key issues, including a “measure of the best and worst legal climates for businesses compiled by the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform(ILR).

A state’s legal climate, as measured by ILR’s 2017 Lawsuit Climate Survey, was taken in account for its “regulatory environment” score in the Forbes rankings, which were released yesterday. Virginia, which ranked 10th overall in the Survey, received the best regulatory environment score. The 2017 Lawsuit Climate Survey was conducted by Harris Poll and released by ILR.

The 2017 survey found that 85 percent of business leaders say “a state’s litigation environment is likely to impact important business decisions at their companies, such as where to locate or to do business.”
