Florida Lawmakers Voice Support For COVID-19 Liability Protection For Businesses
Legislative leaders in Florida have shown support for COVID-19-related liability protections, according to a report in News 4 JAX.
In separate news conferences, Senate President Wilton Simpson, R-Trilby, and House Speaker Chris Sprowls, R-Palm Harbor, indicated support for legislation that would protect businesses who follow applicable guidelines from lawsuits related to COVID-19.
“I think we all agree it’s a problem that we need to figure out the best way to solve. Making sure that people who were going about it kind of the right way — trying to do the right thing for their customers and employees — don’t get blindsided by a frivolous lawsuit while making sure that if somebody is doing the wrong thing, that they’re still held accountable,” Sprowls said.
