A fishing boat captain is suing Corpus Christi lawyer Bob Hilliard and Dallas lawyer John Cracken, alleging the two lawyers “were involved in a scam to get millions of dollars by falsifying victims” of the 2010 Gulf oil spill, reports the Corpus Christie Caller Times.
The captain, who is seeking more than $100 million from the two lawyers, claims to be one of thousands of fishermen whose identities were used in the scam.
“Mikal Watts, a San Antonio lawyer and Corpus Christi native, is accused in court documents of orchestrating the scam and was indicted last year on charges related to conspiracy and identity theft,” reports the Caller Times. The fishing captain claims Hilliard and Cracken were two unnamed lawyers referred to in the Watts indictment.
