First Taxotere Bellwether Ends With Defense Verdict

The first bellwether trial of the Taxotere drug ended with a defense verdict, Law.com reports.

The plaintiff alleged that the drug, used during chemotherapy, was responsible for permanent hair loss, but the jury did not find that. This case was known in part for battles over third party litigation funding. The defense had raised concerns about potential fee arrangements with doctors and funders.

About 12,000 other lawsuits over the drug remain to be heard.
