FCC Proposals Would Be ‘A Boon for Enterprising Plaintiffs’ Lawyers’

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will soon rule on twenty pending petitions to clarify the enforcement of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s proposals for this ruling would be, “a boon for enterprising plaintiffs’ lawyers who seek to exploit the class action device by holding companies for ransom,” writes Henry Pietrkowski, litigation partner at Reed Smith’s Financial Industry Group and one of the leaders of the firm’s Telephone Consumer Protection Act practice.
