Farmers Ask Court to Revive RICO Suit Against Former Lawyers

A group of farmers have asked a federal court in Kansas to revive their Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act lawsuit against the lawyers who represented the group and then allegedly shut them out of class action proceedings, Bloomberg Big Law Business reports.

The farmers allege “claims of racketeering, deceit and a breach of fiduciary obligations” against lawyers with the Watts Guerra firm who represented them in a class action against Syngenta. The say the lawyers deceptively had them sign 40 percent contingent fee contracts but later excluded them from the proceedings.
