FACT Act Could Face Full House Vote This Week
The Furthering Asbestos Claim Transparency (FACT) Act is expected to face a full U.S. House vote this week. Two key stories appeared in today’s media regarding that expected vote:
- “The FACT Act, and its sunshine provisions, is strongly supported by veterans like myself who are dedicated to preserving the rapidly diminishing, congressionally established asbestos trust funds for all service members who have been injured by a substance we now know to be dangerous and even deadly,” writes John Brieden III, past national commander of The American Legion and a Texas county judge. “Veterans hurt by asbestos are significant in numbers, given the military’s extensive use of asbestos during and after World War II.” (The Hill)
- “U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) could soon get his chance to vote on legislation the South Carolina Civil Justice Coalition (SCCJC) says would help “discourage fraud” in asbestos litigation.” (Palmetto Business Daily)
