Faces of Lawsuit Abuse Video on Federal Over-Enforcement Covered by Global Investigations Review

Global Investigations Review’s (subscription only) Adam Dobrik covers ILR’s new “Faces of Lawsuit Abuse” video about the acquittal of Howard Root and his medical device company, Vascular Solutions.

Root and the company spent $25 million to successfully fight federal charges over allegations the company illegally marketed its varicose vein treatment.

In the video, former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey said the Department of Justice’s case against Root and Vascular Solutions “was adversely affected by prosecutors putting a ‘big premium on getting not only a company but also an individual,’” reports Dobrik.

Dobrik highlights Mukasey’s and ILR’s concerns about the Septembrer 2015 Yates Memo, a “policy that prioritizes the prosecution of individuals.”
