Environmental Group Files Public Nuisance Lawsuit Against Food Companies

An environmental group is suing the world’s biggest food, beverage, and consumer goods companies over plastic packaging, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times. The Earth Island Institute filed a suit in a California court for unspecified damages and an order for Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Nestle USA, Procter & Gamble, and six other companies to clean up the plastic waste that the group has claimed created a “global pollution crisis.”

Essentially, the suits claim corporations are responsible for the waste that is produced following individuals’ use of these companies’ products, arguing this waste constitutes a
