Ending COVID Shutdowns Too Soon Poses Legal Risks

Institute for Legal Reform President Harold Kim spoke with Bloomberg Law on the liability risks businesses will face once COVID shutdowns end. A wave of lawsuits could bankrupt thousands of businesses, and claims could strain the court system.  

“The liability concern is a real issue,” said Harold Kim. “Right now, they’re asking: how do we protect ourselves against risk? The worst-case scenario is that companies will not want to open their doors because the liability risk is so great.”
