Employment-Related Class Action Settlement Costs Hit All-Time High in 2015

The value of the employment-related class action settlements hit a record $2.48 billion in 2015, significantly larger than last year’s total of $1.87 billion, according to a report issued by law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP.

The top 10 settlements ranked by dollar amount for class actions brought under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) totaled $926.5 million.

Federal and state courts also issued more “favorable class certification rulings for the plaintiffs’ bar in employment related cases in 2015.”
