DoJ Announces Record $24.7 Billion Settlement Haul in 2014
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced yesterday that the U.S. Department of Justice secured a record $24.7 billion in settlements from corporations in 2014. $20 billion of that stems from settlements extracted from JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Citigroup.
That record amount includes about $11 billion collected on behalf of other federal agencies, and “more than triples the $8 billion” that DoJ collected during the previous fiscal year.
