Did ‘Silver Arrest’ Scrutiny Cause Judge to Slash Record Asbestos Payout?
Since former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s arrest, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Joan Madden has reportedly “come under scrutiny for the sky-high damages that juries in her court have awarded to Weitz & Luxenberg clients.”
Defense attorneys, and the New York Post, speculate that this scrutiny is the reason why Justice Madden this week “slashed a record $190 million asbestos-poisoning payout to less than $30 million.”
