Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice to Receive ILR’s Judicial Achievement Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) today will award Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Myron T. Steele with its Judicial Achievement Award for his exemplary leadership on the court and the efficiencies he has installed at its 13th annual Legal Reform Summit.

The state of Delaware continues to rank number one in ILR’s Lawsuit Climate: Ranking the States survey, due in part to the highly-regarded Supreme Court and state-wide judicial system. Recognized as one of the top 100 most influential players in corporate governance, the Delaware Supreme Court, under Steele’s guidance, has solidified its reputation as exemplary for direction and sound management.

“We are thrilled to honor Chief Justice Myron T. Steele with our Judicial Achievement Award,” said ILR President Lisa A. Rickard. “We applaud his efforts to make Delaware’s legal system the gold standard against which courts around the country are judged.”

ILR will also recognize Steele’s efforts to promote state court funding. Without proper funding, courts struggle to administer efficient and fair justice, and Steele has highlighted this important issue in numerous speeches as well as in the 2011 Annual Report of the Delaware Judiciary.

The annual Legal Reform Awards honor individuals and organizations whose outstanding work has contributed to making America’s civil justice system simpler, fairer, and faster for everyone.

ILR seeks to promote civil justice reform through legislative, political, judicial, and educational activities at the national, state, and local levels.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
