“Controversial Group” Trying to Turn ADA Lawsuits Into”Lucrative Money-Making Operation”

Advocates for Individuals with Disabilities, or AID, “sued 1700 businesses in a six month period” in the state of Arizona, writes local Phoenix news station ABC15.

When the Arizona Attorney General’s Office “intervened and convinced a judge to dismiss all of the group’s open cases” AID “formed Litigation Management Services and recruited attorneys and plaintiffs to file hundreds of cases in Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico.”

Judge Karen Molzen, who is expected to decide on sanctions in the case, noted that “this kind of litigation undermines the purpose of the Americans with Disabilities Act” and said that the plaintiffs in these cases were brought in as “professional pawns.”
