California Supreme Court Declines to Hear Appeal of Landmark Lead Paint Ruling
The U.S. Supreme Court announced that it would consider whether the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA) applies to independent contractors in the transportation industry, Reuters reports.
New Prime Inc., a Missouri-based trucking company, is challenging a First Circuit ruling that said the FAA has an exemption for employees “engaged in foreign or interstate commerce.” The company says that the agreement signed would require these issues be handled in arbitration, rather than litigation.
