Bill to Curb “Litigation Tourism” Passes WV Senate

Lawsuit Filed Over L.L. Bean’s 1-Year Limit on Returns: L.L. Bean has instituted a new one year limit on returns, after saying people abused the company’s old no unlimited return system. A lawsuit has been filed by a “loyal” customer, even though the company said the new policy will only effect purchases completed after the new policy was announced. (Associated Press

West Va. House Moves to Limit Attorney General’s Use of Settlement Funds: The West Virginia House of Delegates passed a law that would require funds won in lawsuits by the attorney general go to the state’s General Revenue Fund. The bill is a response to long-running disputes over the attorney general’s power to allocate settlement funds to certain agencies or projects. (WV Metro News)
