Asbestos Lawyer Who Was Prevented From Practicing In Iowa Is Now Trying To Practice In South Carolina
A lawyer who was prevented from practicing in an Iowa courtroom for submitting paperwork that ignored her history of disciplinary measures is now waiting to see if she’ll be allowed to continue working in one of her firm’s preferred jurisdictions, according to a report in Legal Newsline.
Dallas asbestos lawyer, Jessica Dean, has now filed a motion to be admitted to practice in Charleston, S.C., where she comes clean about omissions in her previous request.
The omissions were brought to light recently by companies she sued in Iowa. In a March 24 hearing, Iowa judge Richard Davidson accepted Dean’s apology, but still refused to grant her pro hac vice motion – a usually routine filing that lets a lawyer practice in a jurisdiction in which he or she is not admitted to the bar.
