Asbestos Cases Represent 75% of Madison County, IL, Filings

Through their efforts to fight back against the business community’s spotlighting of Madison County, IL, lawsuit abuses, the plaintiffs’ bar has claimed that asbestos cases represent only “a fraction of total cases filed” in the county.

How much is that “fraction”? It’s actually about three-fourths, according to an analysis by the Madison-St. Clair Record.

“In 2013 and 2014, asbestos plaintiffs filed 2,978 suits at law in Madison County circuit court, and other plaintiffs filed approximately 1,015 suits in the Law division. That’s 74.6 percent for asbestos,” reports the Record.

This report comes as ILR continues its public education campaign spotlighting the county’s reputation as America’s capital of asbestos litigation.
