Airports Will Face “Extensive and Costly Litigation” Under Proposed Law, Group Says
The American Association of Airline Executives said airports would face “extensive and costly litigation” should Congress designate PFAS chemicals as hazardous under the Superfund law, Legal Newsline reports.
Todd Hauptl, the group’s leader, said airports could be liable for costs associated with the chemical commonly found in firefighting products that airports “are required to use by federal regulations.” Congress has held several hearings on the chemicals, which are commonly found in not just firefighting foam but also food packaging, cookware, outdoor gear, and medical applications.
